udChalo: Serving Those Who Protect the Motherland
udChalo is a dedicated bus, train, taxi and flight booking website and application designed for uniformed defence personnel. It aims to streamline the booking process across India, enabling defence personnel to book transportation even in remote areas, with the added benefit of exclusive discounts.
Given our experience with cloud projects, we anticipated the complexities of managing cloud infrastructure while integrating multiple providers. Then, the availability often presents challenges, making route synchronization a critical task. Additionally, developing and designing filters for accurate option identification added another layer of complexity.

We leverage AWS technologies to power udChalo: AWS DynamoDB for efficient data storage, SQS for smooth messaging queuing, Lambda for scalable serverless processing, and Redis for rapid data access. This robust setup ensures that the booking platform remains fast and reliable.
Our background service, driven by AWS Lambda, keeps route data current from providers like Red Bus, MSRTC, and KSRTC. Each provider’s data is processed through its own microservice, facilitating easy updates and seamless integration.
The platforms leveraged an aggregation layer that consolidates data from all microservices, offering a clear overview of transport options and filters. Optimized algorithms and Redis caching enhance search speed and efficiency. CI/CD pipelines enable smooth updates, and regular security testing ensures the platform remains secure.
